Posted in Collection Updates, Style on October 28th, 2009 by Bella

If you are a big city dweller chances are you use an Oyster Card or something similar, and if you spend time reading fashion blogs like this one you probably have the cutest little suitcase or handbag for your commute. Now youcan  ‘bag’ a cute card case to match. We have a new range of retro influenced Oyster card holders lovingly handmade from printed vintage and recycled fabrics; At the moment they are available in polka dot, floral or houndstooth. Each has a hoop which can clip to a keyring, wrap around your wrist or loop around the strap of your handbag so there’s no longer any need to root around in the depths of your bag when you get to the turnstyles and there’s little chance of losing your Oyster Card. Snap one up quick though as each style is limited edition.

Nottingham’s Retro Secret

Posted in Articles, Shopping Tips on September 30th, 2009 by Bella

While we were shopping with DJ Heathen on Saturday we were introduced to a quaint glass fronted shop in Hockley which when I used to live in Nottingham was quite different and went by the name of Jade. It seems it has changed hands and the now aptly titled Kitsch shoe shop is a destination to head for, it made me all hot under the collar with it’s abundance of vintage furniture stuffed gently with belts and shoes. The window is like a stage set for a play of St. Trinians with a vintage school desk bursting with cute shoes and other goods. I have been scouring the search engines for an hour and found nothing… It must be Nottingham’s best kept secret! If you know anything about this store or even have pictures to prove it get in touch.

40s Suga at gallery fashion Show

Posted in Events, Style on September 25th, 2009 by Bella

Wild Suga Shabby Chic collection 2009

Today was the launch of The Gallery at Mare Street Studios in Hackney, East London where Councillor Ünlüer, Caribbean Gastronome Patrick Marche and the London Youth Support trust collaborated on the opening event hosted by Invincible Group. The common factor amongst the organizers was a desire to help young professionals and businesses in East London to thrive hence the launch of The Gallery; a competitive space for exhibitions, events, photo-shoots and more. The centrepiece of the launch was a double-whammy showcase of two of East London’s fashion designers; Leona Simms and Wild Suga. Simms, relatively knew on the scene presented a wearable collection chock full of upholstery fabrics, wools and leather.  Wild Suga’s ‘Shabby Chic’, a collection of one-of-a-kind and limited edition pieces made from recycled curtain fabrics and inspired by the 1940s was more my bag. A collection that when worn would make you feel like a vintage barbie; bursting with colour and floral, pink piping and frilly collars. A fringe here… a pleated hem there… and all topped of with giant tassel necklaces, picture frame jewellery and floral ornaments as accessories. To top it off and lead into the post event mingling Sarina Leah (AKA Wild Suga) let out a lovely song from her debut album. I can’t wait to see what this woman does next…
